Some people are truly at the right place at the right time—and Eddy would totally agree, if only he could talk! Instead, he lets his eyes do the talking and wags his tail as if to say: “Yep, it’s true!” This sweet Shih Tzu pup was found clinging to life in a drainage ditch in Houston, Texas, cold and alone.
Poor Eddy was holding on tightly to some reeds, shivering in the chilly water, hoping someone would notice him before it was too late. No one knows how he ended up there, but one thing was clear—he couldn’t get out by himself.
Just when the storm was about to hit and the water started rising fast, a kindhearted woman named Velvin Alvarado spotted the little pup. Without hesitation, she jumped into action, wading through the water to save him.
After pulling him to safety, Velvin used social media to ask for help. Soon after, Eddy was taken in by CAMO Rescue in Houston. He spent his first few days with a foster named Erin, slowly getting used to love and comfort again.
Eddy was timid at first, growling and hiding out of fear. But week by week, he began to open up, learning that not all humans are scary. With time and patience, this brave little fluff started wagging his tail for real again.
Now, Eddy is a happy, friendly pup who loves cuddles, scrambled eggs, and veggie kibble mix! He gets along great with older kids and other dogs, and he’s crate trained, too. He’s a total sweetheart ready for his forever home.
He’s still receiving treatment for a few health issues, but after his neuter surgery, Eddy will be ready to meet his perfect family. Let’s wish this little survivor a lifetime filled with belly rubs, yummy food, and endless love!
