I thought she was just a lost dog—until she led me to something that broke my heart

Today, while driving along a deserted road, I spotted a mother dog standing anxiously by the roadside. She wasn’t just wandering—she was watching every passing car, as if desperately hoping someone would stop.

She looked worried. Eyes full of urgency, she approached and seemed to beg for help. Curious and concerned, I pulled over. She led me toward a storm drain nearby—and that’s when I saw them. Her puppies. Barely a few days old, trapped inside the sewage.

Rain clouds loomed overhead, and time was running out. If we didn’t act fast, the pups could get soaked, chilled, and possibly not survive the night.

It took us over an hour of careful effort, but we finally managed to rescue the tiny family and bring them to safety.

Now in the shelter, the three little pups sleep peacefully, warm and safe. Sadly, she had just lost two others before we arrived. We named her Maria.

Maria is sweet and friendly, and despite everything she’s been through, she showers her three babies—and even two orphaned pups—with love and care. She’s truly a devoted mother.

25 days later, her puppies are thriving. They’re now two months old, full of energy and ready for their first vaccinations. Meet Leonardo, Donatello, and Rafael—from left to right.

They’re playful, sunshine-loving, and, of course, always hungry. A happy little pack, thanks to their brave and loving mama, Maria.
